1. Introduction

Boop with Penny ("Boop," "we," "us," or "our") is a dog meetup application that connects dog owners for safe, friendly meetups. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our app.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following information when you use Boop:

Account information: Your email address and password when you create an account.
Profile information: Your name, bio, profile photo, biological sex, and account type (Solo/Couple).
Dog information: Your dog's name, breed, age, photos, and health information (vaccination status, spayed/neutered status).
Location data: Your approximate location when you save your profile, used to show you nearby dogs. We do not track your location continuously.
Messages: Chat messages between matched users, stored securely in our database.
Usage data: Swipe activity and match data, used to improve the app experience.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

Show your profile to other users in your area
Match you with compatible dog owners nearby
Enable real-time messaging between matched users
Send push notifications about matches and messages
Improve the app and fix issues
Respond to safety reports and enforce community guidelines

4. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We share limited information:

With other users: Your profile, dog information, and messages are visible to matched users.
With service providers: We use Supabase for secure data storage. Your data is stored on their servers in accordance with their privacy policy.
For legal reasons: We may share information with law enforcement if required by law or in response to a valid legal request.

5. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account at any time from the Profile screen. Upon deletion, your profile, dogs, matches, and messages will be permanently removed within 30 days.

6. Location Data

Boop requests access to your device location only when you save your profile. We store your approximate location to show you nearby dogs. We do not continuously track your location or share it with other users. Your exact location is never displayed — only approximate distance (e.g. "2.3 miles away").

7. Photos

Photos you upload are stored securely and used only to display your profile and dog cards to other users. We do not use your photos for any other purpose.

8. Children's Privacy

Boop is intended for users 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that a user is under 18, we will terminate their account immediately.

9. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information. All data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections and stored in a secure database with row-level security policies. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

10. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access the personal information we hold about you
Correct inaccurate information
Delete your account and all associated data
Opt out of push notifications at any time through your device settings
